Since 2019, GDS Ingegneria has been supporting Wyeth Lederle – Pfizer Group in Catania with the management of site safety under Title IV and activities carried out under Title I, verifying the preparation of the DUVRI (Interference Risk Assessment Document) and DVRS (Standardised Procedures Risk Assessment Document) of the contractors, managing interference, and carrying out on-site checks to verify the implementation of risk prevention and protection measures, ensuring continuity, coordination and full regulatory compliance.

Supervision and management of the DUVRI during the 2019 and 2020 shut-downs

During the shut-downs in August 2019 and August 2020, GDS Ingegneria coordinated all operational phases of the Wyeth Lederle – Pfizer Group site in Catania, ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations and effective management of interference risks.

Our team was responsible for:

  • drafting and updating the DUVRI, in collaboration with the EHS representatives at Wyeth Lederle – Pfizer Group, Catania;
  • the assessment of the technical and professional suitability of contractors;
  • the coordination of on-site safety and the control of preventive measures;
  • the constant monitoring of production processes, with prompt action taken in the event of any issues.

Thanks to a well-organised structure and a shared operational approach, we ensured the safety of our workers and the continuity of production at the plant throughout the shut-down period.

Site safety management and ongoing assignments at Pfizer in Catania

Since 2022, GDS Ingegneria has been a Service Provider for Pfizer Catania, supporting the Site Engineering Managers and the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team.

We work on a daily basis to manage site safety, monitor EHS compliance, and draft technical risk assessment documents.

In this role:

  • we coordinate the assessment of the specific risks associated with the contracted activities;
  • we oversee the correct implementation of the DUVRI (Interference Risk Assessment Document);
  • we provide ongoing technical support for all safety compliance requirements.

At the same time, we have taken on direct roles as Client’s Representative, Design Phase Health and Safety Coordinator, and Execution Phase Health and Safety Coordinator, ensuring an integrated management model that combines technical expertise, operational oversight, and regulatory compliance.
